Broward Health Medical Center - Maternity Place, 3 and 4 South Tower
SERVICES: ADA Design Consulting, Architecture, Engineering, Construction Administration, Interior Design
PROJECT: This renovation consists of extensive remodeling of two semi-private med/surg units to create Maternity Place – a 39 bed private room center for maternity care. The project focuses on family centered care that includes a separate bed for father and room for the baby’s bassinet along-side the mother’s bed.
Upgraded finishes create a luxury hotel experience throughout the unit, including polished porcelain wall tiles, textured wall panels, wood look cabinetry with minibar refrigerator, concealed storage for medical services, stone-look counters and an elegant vessel sink in the patient bathroom.
Maternity Place also includes three Empress Suites with an expanded patient room to include a soft seating group and an upgraded media center, along with a dining table for family meals.
The nursing unit also has three nursing centers for physician and nurse work areas and a new full-glass well-baby nursery to support the newborn child. Technology plays a major role in patient care with a concealed computer at each bedside, an infant safety tracking system, patient monitoring and nurse call, and educational programs offered on the 40” flat screen TV in each patient room.
This $7.8 million project addressed approx. 12,595 sf and 16,200 sf respectively of 3 and 4 floors of South Tower.
