Nova Southeastern University - Kids in Distress, Dental and Optometry Clinic

SERVICES: Architecture, Engineering, Interior Design, Construction Management

PROJECT:  Kids In Distress is a community-supported agency providing services for the prevention and treatment of child abuse in South Florida.  KID’s programs offer a continuum of care and essential services to child victims and children and families at risk for abuse and neglect.

This project was an interior tenant build-out for Kids In Distress with Nova Southeastern University as the tenant.  KID and NSU agreed to renovate an existing two-story office building to accommodate a dental clinic on the first floor and an optometry clinic on the second floor.  The dental clinic has seven chairs with support spaces and the optometry clinic has six exam rooms, a dispensary and support  spaces.  The project included engineering of Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing systems as well as fire protection services in addition to

architecture. In addition, the following additional services were provided:

  • Master planning of the 1st floor unassigned spaces to include an additional quiet room and four (4) chairs

  • Resizing the dental equipment and piping to support the added chairs on the 1st floor

  • Addition of the cashier's station and children waiting room to the 2nd floor optometry clinic

  • Rearrangement of 2nd floor spaces including elimination of a classroom, relocation of the Lounge and Special Testing Room
