Broward College Health Sciences Simulation Center

SERVICES:  Programming, Architecture, Engineering, Virtual Design Construction, Permitting, Construction Administration

PROJECT: This LEED® Silver Certified - Nursing School teaching facility was designed to replicate realistic practice settings.  Completed in the Fall of 2014, this project includes simulation laboratories and a large cardiovascular room equipped with state-of-the-art human patient simulators, specialized hospital equipment,  internet access, digitalized video, recording cameras and TV monitors.  

 

The facility has an EMS ambulance bay, with an Emergency Department and Triage area, along with Critical Care units, Medical-Surgical unit, Trauma/Operating/Dental Room, a Labor and Delivery/Neonatal Intensive Care/ Pediatric unit; and open lab spaces to conduct large clinical drills, as well as debriefing rooms, storage space, and video recording control rooms.  Each patient care unit accommodates six students and instructor(s) in an adjoining control room.

This simulation center also has a 100-seat lecture hall, classrooms, student collaboration areas, administrative offices, and remote learning center ancillary support spaces.  The 65,000sf building was designed using BIM technology with REVIT.
